This is that time of year where the weather has finally started to turn in Los Angeles, and so I find myself reaching for my extra cozy sweater coats to keep warm. Sweater coats are thicker, exaggerated cardigans. They're that ideal layering piece that adds a touch of comfort to any look, whether it be for a daytime outfit or a look for a date night out. The best in sweater coats will be what your breezy daytime look for fall needs.

Sweater coats have been around for years, but how to style them has completely evolved over time. They are easy to pair with a light material top and jeans, finished with a polished pair of flat over-the-knee boots. Lately, I've enjoyed completing an outfit of a skirt and romantic top with a patterned sweater coat. Some of the best in sweater coats feature pops of colors or bold patterns. I feel this where the sweater coat stands out amongst other coats or cardigans. Bold colors and patterns make them a statement piece, especially a maxi sweater coat. Heavier than a cardigan but slightly lighter in weight than a coat, it's that perfect in-between piece that's meant for a cooler day or evening.
I recently wore this sweater coat in Vancouver, just when the cooler autumn temperatures began to make their debut in the city in late August. Instead of pairing with my usual pair of pants, I decided to pair it with this skirt and this feminine silk-like top. I completed the look with a chic pair of knee high boots, and suddenly I felt more than ready for the incoming autumn weather.
Below are some of my other favorite sweater coats this season. I absolutely love this one and this one, and lately I've had this one in my cart. There's also this one under $65, this one under $100, and you can't go wrong with a simple red or green sweater coat just in time for the holidays approaching.

Love that sweater! The texture looks amazing and you can’t go wrong with that color combo! I have a couple sweaters that are large enough to be classified as coats but not sure they qualify in the warmth category, haha. But I’m a sweater fiend so I’m sure I’ll get a nice heavy one eventually https://www.closet-fashionista.com/

I love long sweaters 😊 it’s nice to be able to have an outfit under and not get hidden. I love your high waisted skirt 😊
