Every July, Nordstrom launches their best sale of the year as a lead-up to fall and winter. The Nordstrom Anniversary sale gets hyped every year for good reason, since it's the best chance to snatch some key designer pieces for the cooler months ahead before they return to full price. I'm guilty of shopping this sale every year. In fact, my closet still features pieces from sales over the last several years. You know my plaid coat I wore in Denmark and Wales? I got that two years ago during the Nordstrom Anniversary sale! So just like you, I will be all over this sale getting ready for fall and winter in style. The sale is massive, and sometimes it can be hard to navigate. Every year I end up making more than one purchase because I keep discovering other pieces I somehow missed. This post is a guide to some of the best of the sale, which launches today for Nordstrom cardholders. Not a cardholder? It's easy to sign up here. If not, the sale opens on July 19 for non-cardholders.

  This is my favorite part of the Nordstrom Anniversary sale and typically where I make the most damage to my bank account - jackets. I love stocking up for the new season, especially when our travels are taking us to cooler spots than Los Angeles. This plaid wool trench is probably going to sell out fast, since it's so chic. I've got my eye on this faux shearling jacket, since I missed my opportunity to snatch one up last year. I have the pullover version of this jacket, and you can't go wrong with a plaid and faux fur jacket combination for fall.

  This is my second favorite category during the Nordstrom Anniversary sale. I love, love, love a good cozy sweater, especially if that sweater came with a lovely discount attached to it! I've got my eye on this super cozy looking cable knit cardigan as well as this puff sleeve button up sweater. There's also this super cozy cardigan that I am obsessed with and recently wore here.

  Not ready to stock up for fall? That's fine, because Nordstrom has lots of new dresses marked down during the sale. I am loving this multi-colored floral dress as well as this black floral dress. Since Los Angeles will be hot for another six months (just kidding... but not really), I will definitely be taking advantage of the dresses on sale.

  Looking to stock up on some denim or skirts for fall? There are several on sale that caught my eye, especially this black and orange skirt that screams, "October", and these straight leg jeans that'll go perfectly with any trench coat. The same brand also has straight leg jeans with an asymmetric hem, which would go with a cozy sweater.

  Shoes! I purchase a lot of my boots for fall from this sale, and this nude bootie is definitely in my cart (it's the same boot as my white boot seen here and plaid boot seen here). I also can't say no to a beautiful bow flat. If you're looking for a chic black over-the-knee boot at a great price, this is the boot for you.
