Date Night in Sheung Wan

Since becoming parents, date nights have become extra special for us. We do not get to go out on dates as often as we like due to the beau’s work schedule and our busy lives with little bean, but when we do we like to get a bit dressed up and go somewhere fun. We have our usual favorite spots that we like to hit up, but lately we have been eager to try some new spots around the city. Some of my favorite cuisines are Italian and Greek, while the beau loves Thai and Vietnamese. However, we both are obsessed with Cantonese and Japanese cuisines, so one night we decided to try a new sushi spot.

Sheung Wan is one of our favorite neighborhoods in Hong Kong. Not only are there a plethora of cute coffee shops, but it also has some of Hong Kong’s best hidden gems for restaurants as well as so many stores that sell beautiful items for the home. Sometimes we like to stay in Sheung Wan for the night if we have someone at home to watch little bean so we can enjoy as much as we can without having to rush home to the other side of the city. Just one MTR stop or 5 minute walking distance away from Central, it’s really easy to get to.

Our Date Night Spot: Honjo

For our little romantic date night, we decided to try Honjo for some delicious Japanese. The beau and I love traveling to Japan and love that Hong Kong is so close for a visit. But when we can’t visit, we like to find some really good Japanese spots in the city to satisfy our craving. Tucked away in our own cozy booth with elegant, dim lighting, we devoured edamame, shrimp tempura, otorosushi, and waggu beef gyozas. This was actually my first gyoza because gyoza is typically made with pork (the beau and I do not eat pork), and I was immediately addicted. We also got to sip on some delicious sake (we like our sake cold and dry) while we tried so hard not to spend the entire evening talking about little bean.

For our date night, I opted to wear a corset bodysuit that I previously wore here (it has since sold out), but I also love this one from the same brand, and this one gives a similar look. I paired it with an old green silk skirt, but there’s a similar one here and here, as well as gold heels and my favorite pouch bag. In this outfit, I felt casual but elegant. We could have gone anywhere with how I was dressed, which is something I like to do. We didn’t actually pick our date night spot until about 2 hours before we went, so this was what I was going to wear regardless of where we went for dinner.
