Business Brunch

Happy Hump Day! Been doing a lot of brainstorming and research lately for the blog - all super exciting things! I'm such a nerd - I love pulling up a chair to my desk with my computer and a notebook and jotting notes down. I was one of those kids who really loved going to school and would slave away at making sure every school project was completed with A++ effort and on time... I like to apply the same to my blog. My blog is my baby - my business. It didn't start out that way. I just wanted a place to publicly share some of my thoughts and my favorite looks. But over time as The A List (originally Jumpers & Jasmine) grew, I started to look at it as a true business - a brand of myself. All I want to do is to continue to expand The A List. If I am addicted to it, I hope others are too. But blogging isn't easy. And I have learned that a lot in the past 18 months. I don't just go outside, take pics, and post them. I research what's trending and what's new. I plan every outfit to the last detail. I location scout for all my shoots. I plan a timeline for when to post. I manage the finances and the budget. I answer emails myself (although that tends to get difficult when you find yourself bombarded with emails). The A List is currently, for the most part, a one-woman show! With the help of T who takes all the photos and helps location scout. The rest I manage myself. But in order to keep everything fresh on the blog, I take a lot of meetings. One of the best parts of running The A List is getting to meet incredible new people. Believe it or not, I used to be quite shy (and in some ways still am) so this says a lot that I feel comfortable enough to meet new people and talk about my passions. I have loved being introduced to new designers/brands and designers/brands I have idolized for years, and then introducing them all to you guys. This summer has been filled with more meetings than I could have imagined, and we are not done yet! It's been one amazing ride, and while normally I do not like to ride roller coasters, this one I would love to stay on for a while. For a business brunch, I paired a classy white button down tie blouse with a standout dot print mini skirt. I love how light yet full this skirt is. I am not usually a fan of tight skirts, especially not in the summer, so this one is the perfect summer skirt. To add a pop of color, I chose to wear my burgundy heels (also worn in Las Vegas in January). To not overpower the look, I reused my favorite casual white clutch. Running a blog/brand really is a full time job, totally feel your pain over here. But meeting new people and getting out there really is worth the work. I LOVE your top and shoes, this look is amazing!

The skirt is on sale now! I bought it. It’s gorgeous, and I can’t wait to wear it when the weather here in LA decides to go back to normal. It’s a bit longer on me, but since I’m only 5’1″, that makes sense. Thanks for featuring it!!!

I know that you were already famous prior to Jumpers & Jasmine because of your success as Miss USA, but as someone running a one-woman amateur fashion blog, do you have any advice? Maybe could you do a post about it?
    Thanks,
    Emily
