Let’s face it, Argos will accept any excuse to be brought along on a fun staycation. Not many hotels are pet-friendly in Hong Kong, but a few of my favorites are and we can now add The Landmark Mandarin Oriental to that list of favorites. I had been wanting to stay at the Landmark Mandarin Oriental for over a year now, and with most of us staying close to home these days, I jumped at the opportunity to experience an ultimate staycation at this gorgeous luxury hotel for 2 nights in October 2020.
Located in the heart of Central and situated right next door to the Landmark Atrium luxury shopping mall, the Landmark Mandarin Oriental is perfectly centered within the hustle and bustle of Hong Kong. However, you’d never know it once you’re inside, as the loud sounds of the busy city outside its doors fade away as you enter your home away from home. It should come as no surprise that Argos made himself at home right away, especially since he was treated like a little celebrity by all the staff from the moment we hopped out of the limo.
Impressive Dining
Even though our gorgeous suite had a beautiful, fully stocked kitchen, we were very eager to try out some of the award winning restaurants located within the hotel. We have been cooking a lot at home this year, and at the time of our visit, most of the dining restrictions put in place due to the pandemic had been lifted, so we were excited to step out and try new spots. From Michelin-starred fine dining restaurants to a hidden bar the boasts some of the most unique and creative hot dogs in the world, it wasn’t easy choosing where to wine and dine each evening.
Whether we were in the mood for modern fine dining or Michelin-starred Japanese cuisine, we loved that we didn’t have to go far in the hotel to enjoy some impressive dining. Each morning, we had delicious Chinese breakfasts at MO Bar, consisting of congee, noodles, and dim sum. On our final night, we dined at SOMM, short for Sommelier, to celebrate my completion of my WSET level 2 certification in wine. They had a bottle of one of my favorite wines – Tignanello – so of course I needed to enjoy some!
Prioritizing Health
The LMO Sweet Staycation package includes several activities that focus on physical health as well as mental and emotional health. For our first full day at the Landmark Mandarin Oriental, I took advantage of their 60-minute private training session at their gym. I am very active in Pilates and TRX training 3-4 times a week, so my LMO trainer decided to incorporate a lot of TRX training into our session to not completely throw off my current routine. After my session, I took a quick shower before jumping into the lap pool to do a few laps and relax in the water.
Another sweet treat in the staycation package is a 60-minute massage treatment at the spa. On our final day, we each enjoyed our hour-long Swedish massages, with mine being so relaxing that I am pretty sure I drifted off to sleep. The room was perfectly barely lit and the music helped take away a lot of stresses I have been dealing with lately. It was a great mental escape for an hour, and I concluded this escape with a soak in the hot tub in the women’s lounge.
LMO Sweet Staycation Package
Our staycation at the Landmark Mandarin Oriental was a much-needed little escape within the city that felt just like home for a few days. Having Argos with us was just the icing on the cake, especially since he loved our suite as if he was right at home. Of course he was also treated like royalty during our stay, and Argos just loves to be doted on. If you’re looking for a fun staycation within Hong Kong for the family (fur babies included), look no further than Landmark Mandarin Oriental.
Thank you to the Landmark Mandarin Oriental for the invitation and for hosting our stay. As always, opinions are my own.
