Originally, Tor was to fly with me from LA to New Jersey. However, he got called in to film and so he was going to have to meet me there. We both landed in Newark at the same time, so we grabbed our rental car and headed down to my Nana and Grandpa's house. I used to stay at my Nana's house all the time when I was a little girl, and I hadn't done so since I was about 12. Staying with her and my grandpa brought back so many childhood memories, especially when the entire Campanella family gathered at her house the following day for a neverending, delicious Italian feast. I know anyone can make a waffle and top it with ice cream, but no one makes it taste like a New Jersey diner other than a New Jersey diner. Tor has tried to recreate it many times for me at home in Los Angeles, and while he has come very close, it's not the same (no offense Tor! I still love your waffles!). After giving my husband his first New Jersey diner experience, we decided to go apple and pumpkin picking with my sister and brother-in-law. [gallery link="none" columns="2" size="full" ids="14080,14073"] [gallery link="none" columns="2" size="full" ids="14078,14072"] My sister had never been apple picking before, so we headed to Eastmont Orchards where they still had plenty of apple trees left to pick from. We got a big bag full of Granny Smith and Winesap apples, and something tells me my sister and her husband ate them all on their drive home because they were so delicious! [gallery link="none" columns="2" size="full" ids="14061,14063"] [gallery link="none" columns="2" size="full" ids="14062,14082"] [gallery link="none" columns="2" size="full" ids="14066,14070"] While the diner breakfast and apple picking was fun, most of all I love getting quality time in with my sister. She's my first best friend and also a boss babe herself. We have completely different interests in life, aside for a deep love of animals and food, but my world would be very empty without her. [gallery link="none" columns="2" size="full" ids="14081,14090"] [gallery link="none" columns="2" size="full" ids="14083,14086"] [gallery link="none" columns="2" size="full" ids="14088,14087"]This trip home to New Jersey was too short (only 48 hours), but I know I won't let it be so long before I return home again. It's always good to see family as well as show off my home state to my husband. A lot certainly has changed since I was a teenager there, but it's fun recollecting my childhood to Tor. A few weeks ago, I traveled to my home state of New Jersey to visit my family before we headed over to Europe. Although I’ve seen my family on their visits to California, I had not been “home” in a very long time. October was the perfect month to visit, as the leaves were beginning to change. Fall was always my favorite month back home (followed by winter for those snow days).
