By now, I am sure most of you are all aware of my love of flowers. For those who follow me on Instastory, you always know that I have fresh flowers abundant all over my house. I feel like my house is a lot more welcoming and cozy if there's a bouquet of hydrangeas or English Garden Roses (my favorite rose). When Square Root Designs invited me back for another floral arrangement class, I couldn't say no! You can tell how seriously Square Root Designs' takes their flowers because no arrangement in the Beverly Wilshire hotel is your typical floral decor. George, Square Root's creative director, explained to me that each flower within each arrangement tells a story. With that said, he was excited to show me how to create a perfectly unique and colorful spring floral arrangement that told the story of spring. [gallery link="none" columns="2" size="full" ids="11114,11113"] Starting with chicken wire in a vase full of water (a super useful tool to get flowers to lay how you want within an arrangement!), we then proceeded to snap and arrange hydrangeas. These hydrangeas had been naturally dyed pink, but to me they looked like they were born pink! One of our favorites was the Sterling Rose. It's so crazy how each rose has it's own unique name. I used to just generically call them all roses, which they are, but they all have individual titles and not every rose breed looks the same. [gallery link="none" columns="2" size="full" ids="11115,11112"] If you watched my Instagram Live from this class, you would know that I was crazy for the Anemone flower (the bright red flowers you see poking throughout my bouquet). It was so stunning and really made the arrangement pop. After adding in some gorgeous yellow tulips, we stepped back to admire this gorgeous arrangement. Yellow is a big theme in this arrangement, since George explained to me that for springtime they feature that color to ring in the new season. I'll need to add some more yellow flowers to my house now! [gallery link="none" columns="2" size="full" ids="11111,11110"] I certainly learned a lot of new tips and tricks to arrangement making with Square Root once again. At my first class with them, I learned it's okay to remove some of the ugly "guard petals" on the outskirts of roses. This time, I learned that you can save an arrangement from dying so fast by checking the flowers' stems. If the stems are brown, that means they aren't drinking water anymore. Just snap a little bit off the end of the stem and you'll see white. Now they are ready to drink more water and revive themselves, thus keeping your arrangement alive a little while longer.
