“ Absence sharpens love, presence strengthens it.”
– Thomas Fuller
Long distance is never easy, but in the beginning we had no choice. Torrance and I were never supposed to physically meet. He was a handsome actor from Vancouver that I saw on the television show The Tudors, and I was a working model traveling between Los Angeles and New York. But one tweet on Twitter changed all that, and in the summer of 2010 we were finally able to meet face to face for the first time. Little did we expect and despite the distance, a romance began to blossom…

Over the past five years, our love has been challenged by long distance. Our first year, he lived in Vancouver and I split my time between Los Angeles and New York. Our second year, I was crowned Miss USA 2011 and had to move full time to New York City while he split his time between Vancouver and Los Angeles. Our third year, he was cast on Reign and had to split his time between Toronto, Ireland, and Los Angeles. Of course I could not be in Toronto full time during his filming schedule, but I found myself there a lot more often (at this point, I could probably fly the route between New York and Toronto myself!). Luckily, Toronto is not far from New York, which made it possible for me to continue doing my job while he did his. But even after five years together and now planning our wedding, I still get butterflies whenever I see Torrance again even if we are only apart for a few hours.
Looking at my social media, it’s no secret I am always on the go between Toronto and New York. My life as a fashion and travel blogger takes me all over the country and the world, and so does Torrance’s life as an actor. We never know where we are going to end up, but that’s half of the adventure.
Torrance and I were honored to partner with Saks Fifth Avenue to chronicle our life as a jet-setting – but always stylish – couple. Saks joined us from our lunch date to one of our favorite spots, Terroni, to our glamorous night out in the bustling city of Toronto. We are excited that Fifth Avenue is coming to Toronto with the opening of Saks Canada on Queen Street and Sherway Gardens coming in 2016!
Watch our ultimate date night unfold in Saks’ short film, “I Left My ❤️ In Toronto”. Every special trip starts with a trip to Saks!

Love love love you guys! Huge fans of both you and Torrance. My husband and I have been married one year and our entire dating relationship and engagement were long distance; I totally understand that butterfly feeling you talk about here when you see your man! Truly beautiful. Good luck with the wedding planning, gorgeous girl!
