Taipei is an easy destination for us with it being only an hour flight from Hong Kong. I felt this was the  perfect opportunity to kick off our summer travels as well as introduce the bean to flying and international travel. For our first family vacation, Taipei proved to be an excellent starting point. Not only was it wonderful getting to visit the city again, it was great getting to explore new sites as well. Even with three days in Taipei, we still didn't get to see and do everything we wanted to because there's just so much to explore.

Asaya and Restoring Mums // Rosewood Hong Kong

After spending a few days on the northern coast of Hokkaido in Otaru, we hopped in the car and trekked inwards towards the mountains and lakes for a weekend escape in nature. About 2.5 hours south of Otaru, and about an hour south of Sapporo, is the stunning Lake Shikotsu. Lake Shikotsu is a deep caldera lake, surrounded by 3 active volcanoes - Mount Eniwa, Mount Tarumae, and Mount Fuppushi. As we drove in from the north, stopping alongside the Izari River to take in the gorgeous, wintry nature of Hokkaido, we drove down alongside Mount Eniwa before the lake suddenly appeared.

A Weekend By The Lake // Lake Shikotsu

There are several essentials a new baby needs, with a bassinet being one of them. We had a bedside crib in our bedroom, but we needed something for baby bean in our living area where we would be spending most of our time. The Birth of Baby Bean

We are not too far away from meeting our baby girl, which completely blows my mind. Whenever someone asks me how I would best describe pregnancy, the word that always appears in the forefront is "bizarre", but at the same time my body was literally built for this. But despite that fact and the fact that I am one of the last of my friends to give birth (I've been supplied with tons of information from them over the last few years!), I wanted to be as prepared as I could be by reading books on pregnancy and postpartum to really help me feel ready for this next chapter of my life. I've never been pregnant before, and I was completely overwhelmed in the beginning of the pregnancy.

We are slowly approaching one of my favorite times of the year - when the temperatures drop, the leaves begin to change, and the sun sets a little earlier. Last year was our first summer with our precious little Luca. He wasn't even one year old yet, but we thought it would be fun to introduce him to a little travel since hopefully he will be traveling more often later in his life. Last weekend, my close friends and family threw me a gorgeous, dreamy virtual baby shower to celebrate me, the beau, and the bean. To know that the three of us are loved and cherished made us feel so warm and sweet. The guests included my closest friends in the US, plus members of my family (who stayed up late on the east coast just for this event) and beau's family in Canada. To see everyone gathered around with big smiles as we played fun baby shower games and reflected on great memories made me smile from ear to ear for hours and days afterwards.
