To be honest, I didn't even know about the Pitti Palace prior to our Florence visit. Our wedding planners Cake & Punch suggested that Tor and I visit the Boboli Gardens when we were in Florence and so we always planned on visiting the gardens. At the same time, a bunch of Tor's fans were suggesting we also visit the Pitti Palace. A quick Google search revealed that the two are connected!A little background about the Pitti Palace: Originally the home of Florentine banker Luca Pitti, the Medicis eventually bought the palace in the 1400s. This fact made Tor excited, as the Medicis (mainly Catherine de Medici) are key characters in his television show Reign. Later on it was used as a base by Napoleon, then as the royal palace of the royal family of a united Italy (I was surprised to hear that for a time there was a King and Queen of Italy in the 1800s-1900s, something I did not know!), and now as a museum. Tor and I spent a while inside the palace exploring the maze of rooms (and lots and lots of stairs). After exploring the palace, we wandered through the Boboli Gardens which is essentially the size of Central Park and thus incredibly massive. We sadly didn't get to wander through all of it, as it was hot and humid. But we did find cats! Of course I squealed. The gardens and the palace also had incredible views of Florence. For our day at the Pitti Palace, I chose to dress feeling like a princess. I wore a dress by Zimmermann (I also wore Zimmermann in Portofino) that both my friends Sarah and Adelaide encouraged me to bring along on my Europe trip. After an exciting few days in Florence, it was time to brave the Florentine roads again and drive to our next destination. Let's just say I became a frustrated backseat driver again....

Other embroidered white dresses here:If a city has royal history, you know I have to spent at least one day exploring its royal historical roots. For our second day in Florence, Tor and I decided to visit the Pitti Palace on the south side of the Arno.

Once again, perfection! How do you do it? That outfit is so adorable, but only you or maybe Addy could pull it off. The sites are amazing also. Thank you for sharing this. I loved the cat!!!
Thank you so much! We loved the kitty too! We think it was a girl, so we called her Alessandra for the day.

Beautiful pictures.
What books do you recomend that you’ve enjoyed about British or European history or royalty.
Thank you.
Can’t wait to see more pictures.
I just started reading your website, and I’m totally IN LOVE!!! You are fashionable; yet modest! My family is traveling overseas this summer, and I have a few outfit ideas. But you are now my outfit inspiration! My mom has mentioned there being a dress code when seeing meuseums and cathedrals in Italy, not showing your knees or shoulders. How did you tackle this while in Italy?
“One shade the more, one ray the less,
Had half impaired the nameless grace
Which waves in every raven tress,
Or softly lightens o’er her face;
Where thoughts serenely sweet express,
How pure, how dear their dwelling-place…”
