White, to me, is a very romantic color. Well, it has to be since it’s the traditional color for brides! But it also is very light and airy, and evokes simplicity.
I’ve been a romantic since before I even knew what romance was. I know that probably doesn’t make sense, but I’ve always felt drawn towards the emotions that romance gives off such as love, comfort, beauty, and happiness since I was a little girl. Romance gives off different vibes for everyone. Personally, white brings out my dominant feminine side. It’s no secret I am a girly-girl, and that’s why you’ll see me wearing a lot of different fashion pieces that evoke my inner romantic.
White, for me, is very romantic. I used to think I could never pull off white because my skin is so naturally fair, but over time I began to ignore that little voice in my head saying I couldn’t. Plus, I knew I wanted my wedding gown to be a snow white. White is a very popular wedding dress color in Western cultures.
Queen Victoria was the one who began the trend of white wedding gowns when she herself wore a white gown when she married the future Prince Albert, the love of her life. Since then, millions of brides have worn white on their wedding day (for various reasons). But even though I am no longer a bride, the romance in wearing white is still there. I have been obsessed with British royal history for years, and one of the greatest royal love stories ever is the love between Queen Victoria and Prince Albert (when Albert died, Queen Victoria only wore black clothing for the rest of her life as she was always in mourning for him). Since her choice to wear white on her wedding day has inspired so many brides nearly two centuries later, and the deep love she beared for her husband was so great, I associate it with romance and thus I find myself wearing white all the time now.
