One part of wedding planning that I knew I was going to take seriously (besides my gown – or is it gowns? Wink wink!) was anything food related. It’s no secret that I have a MAJOR – not major, but MAJOR – sweet tooth, so there was one thing I was looking forward to when we initially started wedding planning last summer – the cake tasting!
Ironically just before T proposed, I saw an image of a cake on Instagram that I immediately knew I would want to be my wedding cake. Or even a birthday cake. Or anniversary cake. Or someone else’s birthday cake.
Okay, so it was an amazing, beautiful cake! But it wasn’t over the top – in fact it was quite simple. But I am incredibly picky about my sweets (I was spoiled growing up with my mom being the most incredible baker) so despite it being a simple cake, I would love for it to have that “pow” factor in flavors.
Thanks to our outstanding wedding planners Cake & Punch, they found the perfect “cakery” for our wedding – Frost It Cakery! Recently we had our first cake tasting, and we left with big smiles on our faces (and our winning cake flavors in a take home box!). We tried everything from chocolate to vanilla to white chocolate to lemon to raspberry. Traditionally my favorite cake flavor is white chocolate raspberry, but I personally wanted something a bit different than my usual favorite for our wedding cake to stand out and be unique on its own……. but you’ll have to wait and see what we ended up going with!

I cannot wait to do the cake tasting! Our food and cake tasting is the end of February! The food is one of the most important things to me! I want to ensure my guest have their stomach full of good food! I am leaning toward red velvet for our cake which is a favorite! However, I have changed my mind on several things during the planning process.
