City Life

Hi guys! I disappeared to NJ this past weekend for a little bit to take a quick break from city life in Toronto. My fabulous sister (and maid of honor) was hosting a party, and I was stoked to be able to make the trip for her. Being in Toronto makes traveling home to NJ a lot easier (and shorter!) than if I was in LA. So I try to visit my family as much as I can while on the east coast for T's show. [show_shopthepost_widget id="872449"] I grew up in a small town in the middle of farmland in the middle of the state. Most of my family is still there (some of us, including myself, have moved west to California). It's obviously a huge contrast compared to life in LA - and life in Toronto, for that matter. In my hometown, there's cornfield after cornfield. In Toronto, it's tall building after tall building. In LA, it's juicery after juicery. I find myself lucky to be able to say I have called all three "home" at some point. Toronto reminds me so, so much of life in New York City. I lived in New York City starting when I was 17. When I turned 20, I moved west to LA. Just one year later, I won Miss USA and had to relocate back to New York City for a year (Miss USA and Miss Universe live in a luxury 3-bedroom apartment in Manhattan for the year of their reigns). After my reign was up, I moved back to Los Angeles. City life makes me miss my car, but LA life makes me miss walking 10 city blocks to the grocery store or riding the subway (LA's subway is NOT the same!). In Toronto, however, I feel like I can really play up my style. City life gives me more of an editorial edge, and I can get away with much more here than I can in LA (for example, coats). In today's post I am wearing what is probably one of my favorite pieces in my closet right now - a sleeveless mint jacket from Pink Stitch. I love layers, especially since I am not usually one to show my shoulders, so being able to wear a chic sleeveless jacket in the middle of summer gets three thumbs up in my book! Originally I paired this look with white jeans, but then decided the look wasn't flowing the way I wanted it to so I changed into some flare jeans. This worked much better, and it continues the 70's vibe I have been obsessing over all summer. Pink Stitch Barossa Sleeveless Jacket (more sizes available here and on sale in some sizes here) | ASOS Camisole | J Brand Love Story Jeans (sold out, similar here and a less expensive version here) | Tibi Mules (currently on sale!) | Rebecca Minkoff Bag | Prada sunglasses (c/o OPTX Eyewear - sold out, similar here) Pink Stitch Barossa Sleeveless Jacket Pink Stitch Barossa Sleeveless Jacket Pink Stitch Barossa Sleeveless Jacket Pink Stitch Barossa Sleeveless Jacket Pink Stitch Barossa Sleeveless Jacket Pink Stitch Barossa Sleeveless Jacket Pink Stitch Barossa Sleeveless Jacket Pink Stitch Barossa Sleeveless Jacket Pink Stitch Barossa Sleeveless Jacket Pink Stitch Barossa Sleeveless Jacket
