Sedona had been on my bucket list for about five years. I've wanted to visit northern Arizona for years, especially the Grand Canyon as seen in my last post, but Sedona was a more recent addition. We knew this would be our chance to visit, since we were heading to the Phoenix area anyway. We dropped our fur babies off at my in-laws and then we drove up to our hotel, L'Auberge de Sedona, to conclude our anniversary week.
What drew us to L'Auberge de Sedona in the first place was the fact that it was centrally located but also private, as well as located along Sedona's famous Oak Creek. It's one of the top hotels in Sedona, and it's quick to see why as soon as we arrived. We stayed in a cottage alongside the roaring creek (Cottage #1, to be exact), which proved to be the perfect soundtrack for our stay along with the birds that sang daily. If you stay at L'Auberge de Sedona, I highly recommend their cottages.

While our cottage was quaint, and even featured an outdoor shower that I was stoked to try, we spent a lot of time on our massive patio that overlooked the creek. We read books up there with a glass of wine, as well as had breakfast there one morning. There were some moments that I completely forgot that we were in Arizona surrounded by massive red rocks and cliffs.

For our first night in Sedona, we dined at L'Auberge de Sedona's award winning restaurant Cress right along the creek to celebrate our anniversary. It could not have been a more romantic setting, especially with the moon reflecting on the water and the glitter of stars overhead that we don't typically see back home in Los Angeles. The food was outstanding as we dined on creamy onion soup, sea bass, pureed celery root, and homemade pappardelle. We were so stuffed after the first three courses of our four course dinner that we couldn't fit in dessert, although their chocolate beet dessert looked decadently delicious!

On our second day, after spending the dawn hours at the Grand Canyon, we returned to L'Auberge de Sedona to experience their one-of-a-kind blending session at their L'Apothecary spa. Tor and I got to create our own homemade bath scrubs with fresh herbs and oils. If you watched our experience on Instastory, you'll know that Tor and I had a grand time at this session! I created a scrub filled with rose petals, cornflower, and juniper berries (a very popular scent throughout Sedona), and I named it "Violet Awakening." Tor created a scrub with white sage, holy basil, and green tea which he dubbed the "Holy Green Transformer." Typical Tor! He also created a pun-ny slogan for the L'Apothecary session - "Blending herbs... it just makes scents!" He had everyone there chuckling. Tor and I wished we could have stayed longer. It was strangely addicting and therapeutic mixing herbs and creating different scrubs. I ended up trying out my new scrub the following morning in our outdoor shower back at our cottage, and I loved it even more.

Following lunch creekside at Etch (dining creekside became a favorite of ours!), we took time to explore the grounds once more. While the lodge and vista suites overlook the towering red rocks of Sedona, our cottage was closer to luscious trees and Oak Creek. Ever the adventurers, we donned proper boots and began walking along and climbing up rocks alongside the raging (and very cold!) creek. We saw young families and their kids exploring these rocks earlier in the day, so it was lovely to see that guests of all ages can enjoy nature's playground just in the hotel's backyard.

If you saw my Instastory during our visit, you'll know that Tor and I did not want to leave. L'Auberge de Sedona was the perfect home away from home amongst its own luxurious oasis in the desert. We couldn't have chosen a better spot to conclude our anniversary week. We will definitely be back again!

I make my own scrubs and room refresher sprays. So much fun, and I can keep chemicals out of the products.
Looks beautiful. I want that creek in my backyard!
The A List
Tor and I are now addicted to creating our own body scrubs! We know exactly what’s in them and it’s all good for our skin!

I love ALL your outfits but I am loving that casual one especially. Could you one day do a post of your “capsule” wardrobe? Like basic tees and under shirts, little black dress? Staple pieces? I would be all over that!!!😜 Thanks for all the hard work you put in your blog, I truly get a lot of enjoyment from it. It’s a lovely break from a crazy day with the kids ♥️.

Aww thank you, Christina! That means a lot to me for you to say such wonderful compliments. And I will definitely consider doing a post with your suggestion! 😉
