I’ve always loved the first day of spring. But maybe that’s because I am a little biased…. Today marks my 26th birthday! My birthday always makes me reflect on past years and it’s always bittersweet.

It feels weird to say I’m 26. I feel like I should be saying I am turning 30! I have experienced so much so far, and I am so grateful for every experience. I have learned a lot about myself, particularly over the past couple of years.
Sometimes I am amazed at what I have done so far in my 26 years of life. I graduated high school early and moved to NYC on my own at age 17, I moved to Los Angeles at age 20, I became Miss USA at age 21, and this year I will become a wife. And still so much more life to live with unexpected journeys and milestones yet to come.
This year we are having a low-key celebration with friends at the end of the week at one of our favorite pubs (yes, I said pubs). The one bummer to living 3000 miles away from my hometown means I cannot have my mom’s homemade baked birthday cake. Every year for our birthday, my mom would have my sister and I choose whatever kind of cake we wanted for our birthday and she would make it. Technically she made my favorite cake at my NJ bridal shower – yellow cake with vanilla frosting! But for now I will settle for whatever cake T brings home.
