‘Tis the season to be jolly! As I am sure you can all guess by now, I love getting into the holiday spirit. This holiday season, I’ve had the privilege of spending time at Christmas markets in Europe. Now we are getting ready for a lovely Christmas with my father up in Northern California where he will be preparing a hearty and fun-filled dinner for the family that I cannot wait to dress up for.

Since I was a little girl, dressing up on Christmas has always been tradition for me. We would spend Christmas Eve with my mom’s side of the family, also known as the Danish side, and my sister and I would be dressed in matching plaid dresses with white stockings, Mary Jane shoes, and bows tied in our hair. You would never find us wearing jeans on Christmas and I continue that rule to this day (not that there’s anything wrong with that – it’s just a personal choice!).
A good plaid skirt is perfect for the holidays. My mother used to make our holiday dresses when my sister and I were little girls, and they always featured at least one of the following: plaid and/or red. This holiday season, plaid is very much synonymous with the holidays, especially plaid with red.
For this holiday look, I paired a plaid skirt with a bell sleeve sweater, which is one of the top trends for sweaters this winter season. A Christmas look would not be complete without a pop of red with red lipstick and red heels. I instantly feel ready for the holidays and cannot wait to celebrate with my husband and my family (and the cats too, of course!).
